Support for First Responders, Military/Veterans, and their Families at Aspire Counseling

We are committed to providing comprehensive behavioral health services tailored to the unique needs of first responders, military personnel, veterans, and their families.  Whether through their own lived experience and/or specialized training and education, our clinicians understand the unique needs these individuals face, from high-stress environments and trauma exposure to the demands of service and the impact that can have on interpersonal relationships.  Aspire Counseling offers a safe, supportive space where clients can address their mental health and well-being with professionals who "get it".

Our Services Include:

  • Individual Therapy: One-on-one sessions are customized to meet the needs of each individual client.  This may involve processing trauma, managing stress, or addressing concerns like anxiety, depression, burnout, substance use, etc.  Our clinicians used evidence-based techniques to help clients build resilience and cope with the demands of their roles.

  • EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing): EMDR is a specialized form of therapy that helps individuals or groups reprocess traumatic experiences and reduce the distress associated with them.  EMDR is particularly effective for clients coping with PTSD, anxiety, and other trauma-related conditions, but it can also assist with a number of other clinical concerns such as depression, addictions, grief, chronic pain, and more.

  • Couples and Family Therapy: The demands of helping professions can often impact the helper's relationships.  Couples and/or family therapy can help improve communication, address relationship challenges, and strengthen support systems.

  • Animal-Assisted Therapy: Incorporating therapy animals into sessions can help reduce anxiety, build trust, and promote emotional healing.  This approach is particularly beneficial for clients who find comfort and connection through interactions with animals.

  • Group Therapy: Group sessions provide a space for clients to connect with others who have similar experiences, fostering community and support.  More information coming soon!

  • CODE GREY Workshop: This specialized workshop facilitated by husband-and-wife team Allen Lude (a retired firefighter/EMT) and Dr. Kari Mika-Lude (licensed therapist) focuses on first responder wellness, PTSD recovery, suicide prevention, and creating trauma-informed workplaces.  CODE GREY offers practical tools and strategies to support mental health and build a culture of resilience.

At Aspire Counseling, we recognize and appreciate the vital role helping professionals play in our communities, and we are dedicated to empowering helpers and their families to thrive.

Note: We accept PEIA (both UMR and The Health Plan) and TRICARE, in addition to most other commercial insurances and some forms of Medicaid.  See our FAQs or contact us for more information!
