Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR)
EMDR is a specialized form of psychotherapy designed to help individuals overcome the distressing effects of trauma. It is evidence-based, powerful (yet non-invasive), and can be rapid. It seems to stimulate the stored information in order to allow the brain to reprocess the experience(s).
#HelpersAreHuman
We specialize in supporting first responders, military/veterans, and their families through individual, couples, family, and group therapy. Our services address the unique challenges faced by these groups, including stress, trauma, burnout, and more. We also offer a workshop on first responder wellness, PTSD recovery, suicide prevention, and how to cultivate trauma-informed workplaces.
Animal-Assisted Therapy
Animal-assisted therapy (AAT) is a therapeutic approach that involves interactions between clients and specially-trained animals, such as dogs, cats, horses, or other species. Here at Aspire Counseling, we have Ivy, a 6-year-old Goldendoodle (dog). The primary goal of AAT is to improve the physical, emotional, social, and cognitive well-being of clients.
Play Therapy
Play Therapy is a specialized form of psychotherapy that allows children to process their feelings and resolve conflicts through play. It is a form of treatment that can help with exploring and expressing difficult emotions, improving communication, and developing problem-solving and coping skills in a developmentally appropriate way.
CSED Waiver Evaluations
The Children with Serious Emotional Disorder Waiver (CSEDW) program is designed to keep children with their families in their homes and communities rather than requiring placement in care facilities or group homes. Our role in the CSEDW program involves conducting Independent Evaluations (IEs) for individuals ages 5-21.
Telehealth
Internet-based telehealth therapy is available to clients in West Virginia, Kentucky, Ohio, North Carolina, and Illinois. These sessions take place through a secure, HIPAA-compliant video/audio platform managed by our EHR. Telehealth allows you to access quality mental healthcare from the comfort of your own home through your computer or smart device, which can be especially beneficial for people with disabilities or living in remote areas.
Mental Health, Substance Use Disorder, and DOT SAP Assessments
Every new client receives a comprehensive evaluation upon initiating services at Aspire Counseling. However, there may be circumstances that call for more specialized assessments, such as those required by employers, professional licensure boards, CPS, etc., and we have clinicians credentialed to provide such assessments.
Clinical Supervision, Professional Consultation, and Workshops
We provide professional consultation, seminars, workshops, and in-service trainings on a variety of topics upon request. We also have staff credentialed to provide clinical supervision for professionals seeking licensure and/or certification in professional counseling and addiction counseling in West Virginia, Ohio, and Illinois.
